| This raku
ceramic urn is truly a piece of art made by one of California's
leading award winning artists. The piece is individually hand thrown.
Mike, the artist, formulates his own glazes. Bamboo strips have
been inlayed on lid. Bamboo
works as the natural element to complete and balance each piece
between shaped and organic elements. Raku is an ancient ceramic
art form originating in Japan. Pots are quickly removed from the
kiln when glowing red, approximately 1800 degrees. They are immediately
sealed in a can of leaves or paper where they erupt into flame.
The unique patterns of metallic colors in the glaze result from
the flame, smoke and rapid cooling. The work reflects the unpredictable
nature of the firing. You will love this unique work of art to celebrate
the life of your loved one. Each piece is
one of a kind and signed by the artist on the bottom.
